the programme targets communicators from all spheres of government and civil society organisations. The programme promotes the notion of participatory communication as a catalyst for behavioural change and social development.
Development is primarily the activation of a country’s human and material resources in order to increase the production of goods and services, thereby leading to the general progress and welfare of its people. The key role of development communication is to help people change their behaviour. Development journalism does not mean any particular institution. It means the whole communication process, new attitudes on the part of the government, the Press, radio and TV. Development issues could consist of these major policy decisions made by a nation that directly or indirectly affect the life of its people.
Eligibility and qualification
while having communications related positions in the non-profit sector is not something unheard of in the past, the rising value of development communications roles in the sector is a relatively new development.
